So What's Your Story Vybrence?

Updated: Jun 30, 2021

Let's Start Talking About It

Having 50+ years of combined experience across different settings, age groups, communities, & levels of need, we at Vybrence know a thing or two about communication and our friends & families also know this too. It is not uncommon for them to ring our phones at odd hours of the day, asking for help or professional advice in regards to language development, treatment of different communication disorders, articulation, or other areas our profession encompasses. It was particularly eye-opening when those calls started centering on accents; public and professional speaking; and how to shift voice to represent your gender. What we were noticing was a lack of adequately trained professionals that have the proper skill sets to help these working professionals with communicating and speaking. We listened to their stories about how they were misunderstood at meetings or did not get that dream job or job promotion, call backs from their auditions, a second date, etc., all because of differing speaking styles. This is not ok. NO ONE should ever be discriminated against based on their country of origin, race, gender, sexual orientation, or socio-economic status. And cue our Ah-ha moment. It was time for us to get started!

Names, Names, Names

"How about... Maybe this.... We need to have.... Should it be.... Do you like the name..."

Dare me to go on about the amount of brainstorming trying to come up with a company name that represented the true essence of what we were trying to achieve because I can! We all have worked in the field of speech-language pathology for many years and with all of the intense coursework, rigorous tests and training, ability to be flexible and creative in sessions, our excellent problem-solving skills, etc., and we knew exactly what we wanted to accomplish with our company, yet we were stuck on the name! Jen, Kate, and I take great pride in delivering excellent services in all the areas we are trained in, therefore, the name had to be perfect. Accent modification or American English pronunciation training and professional communication consulting are our passion and we wanted our clients to feel that.

How It Happened

This should be easy right? With the plethora of options that we accrued, and trust me I can scroll forever through the list on my phone, there was a common thought that we wanted it to be representative of our passion for helping others, our profession that we respect, and our love of communication. We want nothing more than to help our clients shine...no wait...glow....still not right....be vibrant (yep!) in their ability to express themselves completely with ease. Vibrant it is... But... let's change that "i" to a "y" to represent you and since we are not spelling bee champs, lets flip the "a" to "e." Those were the thoughts that immediately popped into my mind 5:00 in the morning, as I was getting ready to start my day. It took all of my patience to not text everyone immediately, so I gave it an hour, lol.

Our Logo

“Cute, a sun! Or, a solar eclipse?” That was some of our friends’ reaction upon our big reveal of our logo. Not going to lie, it stung. Once we explain, you’ll understand how special our logo is to us. In graduate school, all speech-language pathologists are required to study the science and physics of sound, an area that is very fascinating and maybe a blog topic for another time. Our logo is actually the sound wave of a voice speaking 3 words. It is, in fact, the sound wave representation of my voice, saying aloud our names, Kate, Jennifer, Marina. I have to give a special thank you to the wonderful people at soundwavpic.com for their help. They have an amazing website that enabled me to record my voice and design the logo.
